5 Qualities Readers Want to See in Your Story's Villain
A story is only as good as its villain. And while the antagonist of your story does not have to be a “villain,” they do have to live up to certain reader expectations if you want your story to be of any merit. So here are the top 5 qualities that readers want and need to see in your story's villain.
Quality 1: Your villain should be a dynamic, true-to-life character.
Remember, we are talking villains here, not monsters. And unlike a monster, a villain should be a person. This means that no matter what race, gender, or even
RainGentle drumming
As the skies open
And the rains pour
Upon the thirsty ground
The wind does not howl
I simply sit and listen
Under my tin roof, drops pound.
A day has come and gone
I sit thoroughly exhausted
Engrossed in the relaxing sound.
Night has fallen
Nature's rain relaxes
It is easy to fall
Into contented slumber.

Life Sucks, An Update
Actually, it's leveling off.
Last time I wrote a journal entry, I told you all that my mom had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She fought a valiant battle against it, and even drove it into remission. Unfortunately, when the doctors had to remove her pancreas, she developed diabetes as a result. Also, when she was undergoing chemo, she threw a blood clot in her lungs. As they were trying to get her blood sugar under control with insulin, it kept spiking to dangerous levels. I guess it was too much for her heart because it dislodged that P.E. somehow and triggered a massive heart attack and she died before her face hit the bed. That wa
Life Sucks: An Update
Hello, everyone,
First, to everyone who has faved my stuff, commented, or added me to their watch list, thank you so much. I'm sorry I haven't gotten to personally thank you like I'd like. But I really do appreciate your support for my writing, my photographs, and my art.
Also, thank you to everyone who wished me well during my hiatus. You guys rock!
So, last time I posted a journal, we were concerned that my mother had cancer. Well, as it turns out, she does. Of the pancreatic variety. She underwent a nasty procedure in December to remove the tumor. Basically, the surgeons removed half of her pancreas, her spleen, and her gallbladder. Tha
Update: Life and Stuff
Hello, friends, long time no see. It's been a while since I've really been on here, so I wanted to give you all a heads up in case you were wondering what was up with me.
First, my mom got violently ill about a month ago, and spent a couple of weeks in the hospital. Long story short, the doctors discovered that she has a tumor on her pancreas. All of her symptoms point towards cancer. They tried to do a biopsy to confirm, but there were complications so they couldn't do it. They're going to try to do it again in a week, but if they can't do it via endoscope (which is safer), they'll go in directly through her stomach (which is a lot more dan
On a Serious Note
On Facebook yesterday, I accidentally discovered there's actually a group called Women Against Feminists, so I shared their idiotic picture with my friends so we could all make fun of such ignorant, misinformed people. Today, one of my friends shared THIS link to prove why we DO need feminism:

It's really disturbing and it made me a little sick, so be forewarned. But any time men can use their (painfully convenient) religious or political beliefs to systematically justify the enslavement, rape, and abuse of women, there's a problem. A HUGE
