Literature Text

I wanted the stars to burn more brightly,
the snow to glisten slightly when the moon rose,
to cast its pale light
on an expectant earth.
I wanted the kind of silent night
in which the world hears,
for which hearts pause their beating
and breathing stills.
I wanted angel song, cows softly lowing.
I wanted Jesus born again in the
manger, bathed in holy light.

These are the things I wanted for Christmas
but what I got was the UPS man at the door
every single night.

I realize it's a bit late but in my defense, I've had the flu and...Christmas. So, yeah, a seldom-attempted poem by yours truly.

:XD: nice ending. But does 'every single night' refer to consecutive nights in December, or every Christmas?
